general
Breast augmentation surgery is the most common treatment in the field of cosmetic treatments today; The treatment is short and fast and has high results with satisfaction and immediate effect On the patient’s self-image. The surgery is very safe, the recovery time is very short and the scar is hidden in the sub mammary fold and is not visible, which is very important for patients who come to me. In addition, in breast augmentation surgery, the chances of complications are very low because I prefer to use high-viscosity silicone gel implants that prevent leakage in case of implant rupture. The use of silicone implants has two main advantages: the first – the implant has a soft and delicate texture that resembles a regular breast; And the second – silicone has a low tendency to cause an inflammatory process and / or rejection of the implants and therefore it is used as the most common material for this type of surgery and even for widespread use in other treatments.
There are different types of implants: a rough implant, a non-rough round implant and an anatomical implant with a drop shape. It is important to remember that every woman has a different breast shape and body structure which influences the choice of implant type and therefore the result will also differ from woman to woman. In addition, breast augmentation surgery is not a substitute for breast augmentation, so in cases where the line of the nipple is below the sub-mammary fold, this indicates that the breasts are sagging. In this case, the implant will not give a proper response so I recommend my patients to perform a breast lift in addition to the augmentation. Patients who turn to me and want to have a breast augmentation, in most cases the reason is due to low self-esteem due to small or flat breasts or they have a desire to emphasize the chest area in the body. Another common cause is a sagging or incomplete breast due to breastfeeding, weight loss or a change in the appearance of the breast over the years.
What are the methods performed in breast augmentation treatment
There are several methods for performing breast augmentation surgery; The most common method I usually use is to perform an access procedure through the sub-mammary fold. In addition, there are two different techniques for positioning the implants in the breast: an implant above the muscle or an implant below the muscle. The suitability of treatment is determined by the patient’s existing breast tissue. There is enough tissue, I can place the implant under it, but when the patient does not have enough breast tissue, then I have no choice and place the implant under the muscle so that it forms a mask and the implant does not protrude or be visible.
The desired result after breast augmentation surgery
As with any medical procedure, treatment outcomes are divided into the physical outcome and external change that the patient is expected to see after recovery time and the emotional outcome that the patient is expected to feel after treatment. Physically the patient will see that her breasts are larger and fuller already at the end of the treatment. Emotionally it is very individual and each patient will respond differently. But in most of my patients after the recovery time the feeling is very positive and tells of a feeling of security and high self-esteem.
What is the duration of the operation and whether days of hospitalization are required
Breast augmentation surgery is a very short procedure and is not required on days of hospitalization, after two hours after the end of the treatment the patient is released to her home.
What are the common recovery times for most patients?
The recovery time varies depending on the method of execution and the location of the implant, in the implantation of the implant over the muscle the recovery time is about 3 days and is accompanied by less pain. In the implantation of an implant under the muscle, the recovery time is longer and is accompanied by pain for about a week.
During recovery from surgery, the patient is required to wear a special bustier for 6 weeks and refrain from sports activities during this time.
Are preliminary preparations required before performing the treatment or surgery
In the case of a patient with a family history of breast cancer she should be examined by a breast surgeon using an ultrasound to rule out breast cancer and make sure everything is fine.
Another thing I will check to make sure the patient is fit for the procedure, is proper positioning of the breast and position of the nipple relative to the sub-mammary fold; That is, the nipple line is not below the sub-mammary fold and the breast is not sagging. It is also very important to have an open conversation with the patient to coordinate expectations. Before the operation, I perform a preliminary examination in which I check the shape of the breast, the suitability of the implant, the type of skin, the degree of its elasticity, the thickness of the skin layer and the elasticity of the tissue.
The recommended time or season in the year to perform breast augmentation surgery
The surgery is suitable for any time or season except in the case of performing the surgery before or after birth which will affect the choice of implant type. In general for women before childbirth I prefer to put the round implant that fills the top of the breast and gives prominence of the “balcony”, however in women after childbirth, when the breast fell a little after breastfeeding and want a natural look, I recommend choosing the anatomical implant that is drop-shaped and does not emphasize. The balcony “rather emphasizes the lower and central part of the breast and gives it the shape and fullness of the breast as it was before breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding after surgery
You can breastfeed even after breast augmentation because there is no connection between breastfeeding and breast augmentation. The surgery does not change the function of the breast and therefore does not affect breastfeeding.
